A new furnace should be sized to your house, not to the old furnace. Plenty of Halden homes have had insulation and windows upgraded since the original unit went in, and a furnace that's too big short-cycles, wears out early and leaves cold rooms. We do a room-by-room heat loss calculation (Manual J) before quoting.
You'll get two or three options in writing, usually a reliable single-stage, a quieter two-stage, and a fully modulating model, each with the installed price, efficiency rating and warranty. No 'call today' pricing. The quote is good for 30 days.
Installation takes one day. We pull the permit, replace the venting if needed, set up the thermostat, haul away the old unit and walk you through the new one before we leave. The City of Halden inspection is usually within a week, and we schedule it for you.
Signs you need this
- Your furnace is over 18 years old and needs a repair over $1,000
- A cracked heat exchanger has been found (this is a safety issue)
- Heating bills keep climbing while your usage hasn't changed
- Some rooms are always 5°F or more colder than others
- You've needed a repair two winters in a row

Common questions
Should I get a 96% or 80% furnace?
Almost always 96% or higher here. Our heating season is long enough that a high-efficiency furnace typically pays back the difference in 4–6 years. The exception is some chimney-vented homes where re-venting costs more than it saves.
What warranty do I get?
Manufacturer parts warranties are typically 10 years when registered, and we register it for you. Our own labor warranty is 2 years, or 10 years for Comfort Plan members.
Should I consider a heat pump instead?
It's worth asking. If your AC is also near the end, a cold-climate heat pump with a furnace backup can cut heating costs. We'll quote both if you want to compare.
