Heat pumps in Halden, MN
Heat pumps used to give up around 20°F. Current cold-climate models keep producing full heat at 5°F and useful heat well below −15°F, which covers all but a handful of Halden nights a year.
We've installed more than 600 heat pumps since 2017. We'll run a room-by-room load calculation, tell you honestly whether you need a gas or electric backup, and handle the utility rebate forms for you.

Heat pumps: common questions
Will a heat pump keep my house warm at −25°F?
A cold-climate heat pump produces useful heat well below −15°F. For the few nights colder than that, we pair it with electric strips or your existing gas furnace as a backup.
How much can I get back in rebates and tax credits?
It depends on the equipment and your utility, but many Halden homeowners recover $2,000 to $4,000 through utility rebates and the federal tax credit. We fill out the paperwork for you.
Can I keep my gas furnace?
Yes. A dual-fuel setup runs the heat pump most of the year and switches to gas on the coldest days. It is the most common conversion we install.
